“Watered-down faith, weak-hoped Christian!”

“Fundamentalist!”

“They are people without light – real downers!”

“Creed-reciting, parrot Christian!”

“Rosary counter!”

“Long-faced, mournful funeral Christian!”

“And how many Christians are like this?” he asked, “selfish, out for themselves??”  – Bergoglio

(Raw Story) – Pope Francis spoke out Friday over the increasingly aggressive nature of much political discourse and the use of social media as a forum for personal abuse.

In a message published on the same day that the Twitter-friendly pontiff met Apple boss Tim Cook, Francis said digital technology and the Internet could help bring people together but also had the potential to create deep wounds.

“Our words and actions should be such as to help us all escape the vicious circles of condemnation and vengeance which continue to ensnare individuals and nations, encouraging expressions of hatred,” he said.

The pope urged politicians and others in positions of power “to remain especially attentive to the way they speak of those who think or act differently or those who may have made mistakes.”

And he emphasized the importance of everyone applying the same principle to encounters in cyberspace by showing respect for “the neighbour whom we do not see.”

“It is not technology which determines whether or not communication is authentic, but rather the human heart and our capacity to use wisely the means at our disposal,” Francis said.

“Social networks can facilitate relationships and promote the good of society, but they can also lead to further polarization and division between individuals and groups.

“The digital world is a public square, a meeting-place where we can either encourage or demean one another, engage in a meaningful discussion or unfair attacks.”

The Vatican did not release any details of the pope’s meeting with Cook, who was in Italy to inaugurate a new Apple applications research centre in Naples. Francis met last week with Google supremo Eric Schmidt.

The Medjugorje Hoax / What Francis really meant with his words about those who consult seers in search of novelty

Bergoglio blesses another Medjugorje statue!

Bergoglio blesses another Medjugorje statue!

The Medjugorje Hoax

To demonstrate briefly by means of events and quotes that the apparitions at Medjugorje, because of their banality or lack of dignity, the containing of heresy in the messages, and their undermining of Church authority, are certainly false, and cannot have come from Our Lady and Heaven.

1) Banality or Lack of Dignity.

According to the “Treatise on Mystical Theology,” by Fr. Farges (1923), “Whereas the divine vision always conforms to the gravity and majesty of heavenly things, diabolical figures will infallibly have something unworthy of God, something ridiculous, extravagant, disorderly, or unreasonable about them.”

A) Thursday, June 25, 1981: “(The seer) Mirjana asked Our Lady to leave us a sign…and the hands of Mirjana’s watch turned.” (book of Fr. Yanko Bubalo, p.22-25)

B) Saturday, June 27, 1981: The seers stated that the Virgin had disappeared several times because people had trod on her veil. (Bubalo, p.29-32)

C) Aug. 2, 1981: That evening during the apparition, those present followed one another in order to touch “the veil, the head, the hand, the dress” of the apparition. “At the end the Virgin seemed dirty, full of stains.” (Bubalo, p.73-74)

D) Sept. 4, 1981: Seer Vicka in her diary writes: “We questioned her (the Virgin) about the man who saw Jesus in the street, when he was driving in his car. He met a man who was all bloodstained – this man was Jesus – who gave him a bloodstained handkerchief, telling him (the driver) to throw it in the river. Going on his way, he met a lady – it was the Blessed Virgin Mary; she asked the driver for the bloodstained handkerchief. The man gave a handerchief belonging to himself, but the Virgin asked for the bloodstained one. ‘If he had not given it to me, it would have been the last judgment for all.’ The Virgin said that that (event) was true. (report of Bishop Zanic, 1990, in whose diocese of Mostar, the apparition took place.)

E) Autumn, 1981: Jakov asked the Virgin whether Dynamo, the soccer team from Zagreb, would win the title. This gave rise, during the apparition (in the supposed presence of Our Lady) to mad laughter on the part of the other seers. (Bubalo, p.154-157)

F) Sept. 8, 1981: Jakov shook hands with the Virgin. “Dear Holy Virgin, I wish you a happy birthday.” (“The Virgin Mary is Appearing in Yugoslavia,” by Fr. Marian Ljubic, p. 42)

G) August 5, 1985: Mirjana says that she has received from Heaven a white sheet on which the secrets will become legible in due time. But she won’t show the sheet. (Report of Fr. Rene Laurentin)

H) “One day, as she (Mirjana) was waiting for the Virgin, she saw the light, and out of the light came the devil, disguised in the features and clothes of Mary, but he had a dark, hideous face…After a while, the Holy Virgin came and said to her: ‘I am sorry about that…'” (“Yugoslavia and the BVM” by Tequi)

(…who is really appearing there?)

2) An Apparition Teaching Error and Heresy

A) Fr. Tomislav Vlasic: “Do you feel the Virgin as she who gives graces (which is the traditional Catholic doctrine of Mary, the Mediatrix of All Graces) or as she who prays to God? (true also, but in conformity with some Protestant theology and not the fulness of Catholic teaching.) Vicka: “As she who prays to God.” (“Is the Virgin Mary Appearing at Medjugorje? by Fr. Rene Laurentin, 1984, p.135-136, 154)

B) The Virgin was accustomed to reciting the Our father with the seers. (But how could Our Lady say: “Forgive us our trespasses,” since she has none? At Lourdes, Our Lady was careful to keep her lips closed during all the Paters and Aves, reciting only the Gloria Patris.)

C) Mirjana: “I recently asked the Virgin this question (whether many souls are damned), and she told me that nowadays most souls go to Purgatory.” (book by Fr. Faricy, p. 64)

(…a comforting thought, perhaps, but opposite to the teaching of Fatima, St. Louis de Montfort, Pope Gregory the Great, St. Alphonsus, St. Anthony Claret, St. Augustine, etc., etc.)

D) Oct. 1, 1981: “All religions are equal before God,” says the Virgin. (Chronological Corpus of Medjugorje, p. 317)

E) The Virgin: “I do not dispose of all graces…Jesus prefers that you address your petitions directly to him, rather than through an intermediary.” (Chron. Corp. p.181, 277-278)

F) “In God there are no divisions or religions; it is you in the world who have created divisions.” (Faricy, p.51)

G) “God directs all denominations as a king directs his subjects, through the medium of his ministers” (“The Apparitions at Medjugorje,” by Fr. Svat Kraljevic, 1984, p.58)

H) “Each one’s religion must be respected, and you must preserve yours for yourselves and for your children.” (Kraljevic, p.68)

I) “The Virgin added: ‘It is you who are divided on this earth. The Muslims and the Orthodox, like the Catholics, are equal before my Son and before me, for you are all my children.” (Fr. Ljubic, p.71)

(…unbaptized Muslims equal to the baptized, who by this fact are the adopted children of God?)

3) The Undermining of Church Authority

A) June 21, 1983: The Virgin states: “Tell the Father Bishop (Zanic) that I request his urgent conversion to the events of the Medjugorje parish…I am sending him the penultimate warning. If he is not converted, or will not be converted, my judgment as well as that of my Son Jesus will strike him.” (Seer Ivanka writing to Bishop Zanic)

B) Dec. 26, 1983: …But the Virgin takes the side of the chief propagandist for Medjugorje: “Our Lady prays for this work (i.e., the writings of Fr. Rene Laurentin.) May he who undertakes it do so in prayer, which is where he will find his inspiration.” (Laurentin, p.105-111)

C) August 1, 1984: The Virgin says: “Make the priests read the Abbe Laurentin’s book and spread it.” (A Franciscan from Belgrade received this reply, when he had the seers bring up the matter to the Virgin.)

D) From August, 1984, to April, 1985, the apparitions continued to take place in the parish church despite the Bishop of Mostar’s former prohibition. (A certain sign of a false apparition, when Church authority is disobeyed by the apparition itself.)

E) Jan. 1982: The Virgin states that two Franciscan priests, removed from their order and under suspension by the bishop, one of whom later fathered a child by a nun, may continue to say Mass and hear Confessions. Vicka the seer is asked “If the Lady said this, and the Pope says that they cannot…” Vicka answers: “The Pope can say what he wants. I’m telling it as it is.” (from Bishop Zanic’s document, 1990)

(…obedience to an apparition greater than obedience to the Pope?)

Miscellaneous:

Medjugorje ignores the great hope of Fatima: the consecration of Russia and its conversion, followed by peace, with the triumph of the Immaculate Heart.

Dec. 8, 1984: Fr. Gobbi, founder of the Marian Movement of Priests, receives a locution from “Mary,” informing him that she has been appearing at Medjugorje.

Therefore, if Medjugorje is a fraud, so are Fr. Gobbi and his locutions.

Finally, Medjugorje has heavy overtones of Charismaticism, a movement which infiltrated the Church from Protestantism in the late 1960’s; Medjugorje is still in progress, as of this writing (1999), its length resembling the nonsense apparitions of Bayside, NY, and Necedah, Wisc. rather than the succinctness of Fatima or Lourdes.

A reminder to all:

The official Church teaching concerning private revelation is explained by Pope Benedict XIV (18th century.):

[The Church] simply permits them [private revelations] to be published for the instruction and the edification of the faithful. The assent to be given to them is not therefore an act of Catholic Faith but of human faith, based upon the fact that these revelations are probable and worthy of credence.

“St. John of the Cross asserts that the desire for revelations deprives faith of its purity, develops a dangerous curiosity that becomes a source of illusions, fills the mind with vain fancies, and often proves the want of humility, and of submission to Our Lord, Who, through His public revelation, has given all that is needed for salvation.

“We must suspect those apparitions that lack dignity or proper reserve, and above all, those that are ridiculous. This last characteristic is a mark of human or diabolical machination.”

What Francis really meant with his words about those who consult seers in search of novelty

The Pope cautions faithful against turning to seers to learn “exactly what message Our Lady will be sending at 4’o’clock this afternoon,” in other words, those who turn their life into a series of messages, private revelations, secrets and predictions about the future.

In the homily he pronounced at yesterday’s mass in St. Martha’s House, Francis spoke about “those who are constantly searching for some “novelty” in their Christian identity,” “forgetting that they were chosen, anointed,” that “they have the seal of the Holy Spirit” and they go in search of seers, asking: ‘Where are the seers who can tell us exactly what message Our Lady will be sending at 4’o’clock this afternoon?‘ And their lives depend on this. This identity is not Christian. God’s final word is “Jesus” and nothing else.”

These words come three days after the announcement of an imminent decision on the Medjugorje case, which Francis mentioned on his return trip from Sarajevo. Many connected the two things, interpreting his homily almost as the anticipation of a negative pronouncement on the phenomenon which began in Herzegovina in 1981 and has not yet reached a conclusion.

This is not the first time Francis has expressed himself in these terms. On 13 November 2013, during a sermon in St. Martha’s House, he criticised the spirit of curiosity, which impels us to want to feel that “the Lord is here or rather there, or leads us to say: “But I know a visionary, who receives letters from Our Lady, messages from Our Lady”. “But, look, Our Lady is the Mother of everyone! And she loves all of us. She is not a postmaster, sending messages every day,” the Pope added. Even then, the words he pronounced at mass were linked to Medjugorje, even though he could also have been referring to other phenomena of this kind and especially to the attitude of those who transform faith into insane curiosity.

The Medjugorje apparitions, initially involved a group of children and continued under the form of private apparitions that still continue today, at specific times and on a daily basis. The Holy See does not want seers to take part in public demonstrations trumpeting the authenticity of the apparitions as a definite, even mentioning the times in advertising campaigns.

Of the six initial seers, three confirm that they still see the Virgin Mary at the same time in the afternoon, wherever they are; one of them witnesses an apparition every 2nd day of the month, while the latter two see one apparition a year.

It is hard to imagine that the Pope intended to anticipate the decision on Medjugorje with his words in the St. Martha House mass. After the exhaustive and balanced work carried out by the commission of experts and theologians, which Benedict XVI decided to set up, appointing Cardinal Camillo Ruini as head, the case passed into the hands of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. The Congregation will be discussing it in the coming days. The outcome will then be presented to Francis.

When Ruini’s report was delivered to the Pope in January 2014, the Commission approved the first apparitions witnessed in the summer of 1981 but expressed its doubts over the apparitions which followed and have not yet come to an end, even though no proof was found of trickery or deceit. Similarly, in the case of the Fatima apparitions of 1917, the Church approved these but not those which followed, along with the revelations that Sister Lucia dos Santos has continued to have.

The issue of the healing of millions of pilgrims that go to pray in Medjugorje every year, in the parish chapel, which according to many could become a shrine under the direct tutelage of the Holy See, is completely different and separate from the pronouncement on the supernatural aspect of the event. Pastoral care for faithful is one of the aspects Pope Francis holds closest to his heart, having always valued popular devotion as an archbishop in Argentina.

We must not forget how varied the world of private revelations is, with so-called seers and pseudo-seers and the web has blown up these phenomena. Here is an example that occurred recently: on 9 May, during the course of a meeting that lasted all but a few minutes, at the end of the rosary prayer in the Vatican Gardens, Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI was handed a sizable book  with a dark red coloured cover and a shell-shaped seal. Neither the Pope Emeritus, not his personal secretary, Archbishop Georg Gänswein knew what it was about. They had no knowledge of the contents, nor did they know the identity of the two envoys sent to represent “seer” Franca Miscio, better known as “Conchiglia”, founder of an international movement whose model figures are Guadalupe and Juan Diego.

The “messages” received from the fake seer are easy to find online. Conchiglia presents herself as a prophetess of our time and fills pages and pages with words that she assures come directly from God, Jesus and Mary. One of the strangest “revelations” she makes is an unshakable belief that aliens exist and that “alien DNA” has mixed with “Terrestrian” DNA so that there are now “alien beings” ruling the world.

The Vatican is described in the “prophesies” as den of all evils: “The Vatican is the center of the global power that wants to create a single global religion uniting all false religions … it is the den of the seven deadly sins and other kinds of vileness.” In addition, Conchiglia deifies the figure of Mary.

The false seer wrote a great deal about Benedict XVI’s resignation. She claims his resignation resulted from the workings of international masonry and that Ratzinger is apparently still the real and legitimate Pope, while Francis, whom she defines as a “wicked man seated at the Throne of Peter”, is an “imposter”, an anti-Pope, a representative of the Anti-Christ. These comments speak for themselves.

Various figures have recently warned against Conchiglia’s “messages”, including the Bishop of Jesi (Italy), Gerardo Rocconi who met her in person and the Bishop of Senigallia (Italy), Giuseppe Orlandoni, who has repeatedly described the words of the false seer as “objectively heretical and against the doctrine of the Church”.

Conchiglia’s movement has published the images of the meeting with the Pope Emeritus on her website, making them stand out and presenting him almost as a guarantee seal for the messages contained in the book. But Archbishop Georg Gänswein, Prefect of the Papal Household and personal secretary to Benedict XVI clarified what happened in a statement to Vatican Insider.

Answering a series of questions put to him by Vatican Insider: “A certain Mr. Mimmo Rocco who presented himself as chief superintendent of the Italian Carabinieri, had asked some time ago, along with many others, to meet the Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI. He was granted a brief meeting after the rosary. There were two of them, him and one other person. They didn’t know each other. During the meeting, they presented Benedict XVI with a book, as shown in a series of photos published on the website. We had no knowledge of the content. The meeting only lasted a few minutes.”

“When I got home,” Gänswein continued, “I looked at the book and so did Benedict XVI later on. We were surprised and shocked because we noticed straight away that the book contained some “private revelations”. It didn’t take long to work out that the whole thing was strange and incredible to say the least. The Pope Emeritus asked me to send the book to the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith which is competent in this field, immediately.”

“We didn’t think anything of the meeting,” Mgr. Gänswein concluded. “There are many people around who call themselves “seers”… We had no idea that the book contained those comments. Naturally, there is no support for the “seer” or the contents of the book in any way. Had Benedict XVI known that he was going to be given a collection of messages of this kind, he would never have agreed to the meeting”.

Pope ends visit in front of a record crowd of 6-7 million in Manila

By Philip Pullella and Rosemarie Francisco

MANILA, Jan 18 (Reuters) – Pope Francis concluded his trip to Asia on Sunday with an open-air Mass for a rain-drenched crowd in Manila that the Vatican and the government said drew up to seven million people, the largest ever for a papal event.

Vatican spokesman Father Federico Lombardi said the office of the president told the Vatican that between six and seven million attended the Mass in Manila’s Rizal Park and surrounding areas.

“We are not able to count all these people, obviously, or to verify this, but in any case, we have seen so many people that we believe that it is possible,” Lombardi told a briefing.

“If this is true, and we think it is, this is the largest event in the history of the popes,” he said, noting that Pope John Paul drew some five million to the same area in 1995.

The 78-year-old pope, wearing a transparent yellow poncho over his white cassock, was driven through the ecstatic crowd in a “popemobile” modified from a jeepney, the most popular mode of transport in the Philippines which is based on a U.S. military vehicle used in World War II.

He stopped often along the route to kiss children and bless religious statues on the day the Philippines celebrates the feast of the infant Jesus. The faithful, also wearing ponchos, held up rosaries in a forest of uplifted arms as he passed by.

Some people in the capital of Asia’s only predominantly Catholic country had waited all night for gates to open at dawn. The gates opened nine hours before the start of the Mass, which was due to last nearly three hours.

In his homily, the pope urged Filipinos to shun “social structures which perpetuate poverty, ignorance and corruption,” a theme he stressed when he held talks with President Benigno Aquino on Friday. Aquino attended the Mass.

Francis also took another swipe at the government’s population control efforts, saying the family was under threat from “insidious attacks and programmes contrary to all that we hold true and sacred.”

STREET CHILDREN

The pope’s last full day in the Philippines began with an emotional youth gathering at a Catholic university in Manila, where he was moved by a question posed by a 12-year-old girl who had been abandoned.

“Many children are abandoned by their parents. Many of them became victims and bad things have happened to them, like drug addiction and prostitution. Why does God allow this to happen, even if the children are not at fault? Why is it that only a few people help us?” the girl, Glyzelle Iris Palomar, asked him.

The girl, who was rescued and found shelter in a Church-run community, broke down in tears and could not finish her prepared welcome. The pope hugged her and later put aside most of his own prepared speech to respond.

“Why do children suffer?” the Argentine Pope said, speaking in his native Spanish. An aide translated his words into English for the crowd of about 30,000 young people on the grounds of the Church-run university.

“I invite each one of you to ask yourselves, ‘Have I learned how to weep … when I see a hungry child, a child on the street who uses drugs, a homeless child, an abandoned child, an abused child, a child that society uses as a slave’?” he said.

Children can be seen living on the streets of the Philippine capital, as they often do in many poor Asian countries, surviving by begging and picking through garbage in vast dumps.

The United Nations says 1.2 million children live on the streets in the Philippines. According to the Child Protection Network Foundation, 35.1 percent of children were living in poverty in 2009, the last year such data was available. Nearly 33 percent of Filipinos live in slums.

The Calling of Saint Matthew – Caravaggio (1599-1600)

In his address to young people at University of Santo Tomas, Pope Francis told the story of the calling of St. Matthew. But aside from merely telling the story, he told the youth to check out the painting by Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio.

“Let’s think of St. Matthew, he was a good financier and he let people down, because he imposed taxes on his own citizens, the Jews to give to the Romans, full of money. But Jesus looks at him and says, follow Me. “Jesus called him and those around him said, ‘This one? He has betrayed, he’s no good. And he holds money to himself!’  If you have time, go and see the picture that Caravaggio painted about the story,” said the Pope.

See you next January, Papa Francisco? Pope invited to Cebu confab in 2016

Pope Francis has been invited to return to the Philippines in January next year to attend the 51st International Eucharistic Congress in Cebu, Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle said on Sunday night.

Tagle made the disclosure in a news conference on the eve of Pope Francis’ departure for the Vatican after a successful and heartfelt interaction with Filipinos over the past few days.
“The Philippines will host next year, in January next year, the 51st International Eucharistic Congress. It will be held in Cebu. Again, another international event. The last Eucharistic Congress was held in Dublin in Ireland,” Tagle said.

“Now, will the Pope come again for that? We hope. The Episcopal Conference has already invited him,” he added. —NB, GMA News

A plane carrying Filipino government officials overshot the runway at Tacloban airport after the Pope was forced to cut short his visit to the country due to storms.

The Associated Press news agency reports that no-one was injured in the incident.

In his visit to the region hit by last year’s devastating Typhoon Haiyan, Pope Francis told worshipers: “When I saw from Rome that catastrophe, I felt that I had to be here. On those very days I decided to come here.

“I am here to be with you. Perhaps a little late, I have to say, but I am here,” he said.

Francis – Bergoglio: Help wounded, drop theoretical baggage

VATICAN CITY (CNS) — With so much spiritual, social and moral suffering in the world, the church has “no right” to stay locked up in an ivory tower, engaging in “byzantine” philosophical reflection, Pope Francis told members of the Focolare movement.

“We have to go out! So that — I’ve said this before — the church seems like a field hospital,” where the first order of the day “is heal the wounds, not measure people’s cholesterol. That comes later. Got it?” he said to applause.

The pope met at the Vatican with 500 people from 136 countries; they were attending the Focolare general assembly in Rome Sept. 1-28.

During the assembly, members re-elected Italian Maria Voce for a second six-year-term as president, and elected Spaniard Jesus Moran Cepedano as the new co-president.

In his audience with members of the movement Sept. 26, Pope Francis said the new evangelization must go out to everyone, “starting with the poorest and excluded,” so they, too, may experience “hope, brotherhood and joy in humanity’s journey toward unity.”

Focolare members, like all Catholics, can contribute to “this new season of evangelization” by being creative in the ways it brings God’s word to the world.

This work demands “contemplation, going out, and formation,” he said.

“Today more than ever before, we have to contemplate God and the wonders of his love,” Pope Francis said. By recognizing and letting Jesus dwell in them, he said, Catholics can avoid narcissism and can share him with others.

Going forth means doing what Jesus did as he always was “walking and sowing anew,” freely and generously, the pope said. This takes “aiming high and expanding one’s gaze” beyond one’s own horizons, he said.

With God’s help, people will have the courage to face reproach as they look for the Lord “outside the camp” and their comfort zone, he added.

“He is waiting for us in the tribulations and wailing of our brothers and sisters, in the wounds of society and in the questions from today’s culture,” he said.

Byzantine Philosophy

Byzantine Philosophy

The pope said it is “heartbreaking” to see “so many wounds, moral wounds, existential wounds, wounds from war” every day, but then to see Christians trapped in “byzantinism,” that is, engaging in complicated “philosophical, theological, spiritual” arguments and reasoning among themselves when instead “we need a spirituality of going out.”

“Go out with this spirituality; don’t stay inside under lock and key. This is not good,” he said.

“We have no right to byzantine reflections. We have to go,” he said. (??!)

Finally, he said, formation is key so that people, especially the young, can see God, “fall in love with him” and follow him while facing life’s challenges.

“Without adequate formation for younger generations, it is misleading to think that a serious and long-lasting project that serves a new humanity can be realized,” he said.

Following on from the special wedding ceremony last Sunday morning, when he married 20 couples at St Peter’s Basilica, the Holy Father’s current focus on marriage was highlighted again last week as Pope Francis welcomed other newly-married couples and their guests at the Wednesday General Audience.

On display
in a place of honour outside the Basilica was a large statue of Our Lady of Medjugorje belonging to the House of Mary, an organisation based in Ischia, Italy, and founded to combat social injustice.

It had been brought to Rome to be blessed by the Holy Father and Pope Francis duly obliged, spending time in prayer with the three-metre-high statue before giving it his blessing.

Earlier this month, Pope Francis was pictured accepting a statue of Our Lady of Medjugorje sent to him by the Medjugorje seer Vicka and, in May, photographed praying in front of another Medjugorje statue outside St Peter’s.

beware of false prophets 4
The Medjugorje HoaxTo demonstrate briefly by means of events and quotes that the apparitions at Medjugorje, because of their banality or lack of dignity, the containing of heresy in the messages, and their undermining of Church authority, are certainly false, and cannot have come from Our Lady and Heaven.1) Banality or Lack of Dignity.

This last charcteristic is a mark of human or diabolical machination.”

The return of liberation theology: Pope reinstates suspended pro-Sandinista priest

Miguel D'Escoto Brockmann liberal theologian

The Sandinistas, who supported the “popular church” of liberation theology

Pope Francis has reinstated a Nicaraguan priest suspended by the Vatican in the 1980s for participating in Nicaragua’s leftist Sandinista government.

The 81-year-old Rev. Miguel D’Escoto Brockmann, Nicaragua’s foreign minister from 1979-1990, recently wrote to Francis asking to be allowed to celebrate Mass again before he died. The Vatican said Monday that Francis had agreed and asked D’Escoto’s superior in the Maryknoll order to help reintroduce him into priestly ministry.

The Vatican suspended D’Escoto and three other dissident priests in 1985 for defying a church ban on clergy holding government jobs. The sanction was also a reflection of St. John Paul II’s broader crackdown on liberation theology in Latin America.

The Sandinistas, who supported the “popular church” of liberation theology, overthrew the pro-American regime of Anastasio Somoza in 1979.

       Archbishop Óscar Romero timeline

Francis, who was a young Jesuit provincial in Argentina at the time, shared John Paul’s opposition to the perceived Marxist excesses of liberation theology. But as pope, he has also called for a more merciful church and has indicated that another symbol of liberation theology, slain Salvadoran Archbishop Oscar Romero, will soon be beatified

D’Escoto was ordained a priest in 1961 and remained a member of the Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers religious order throughout the 29-year suspension. He simply couldn’t exercise his priestly duties. A brief statement issued by the Maryknolls, known for their missionary work around the globe, announced Francis’ Aug. 1 decree lifting the suspension and noted that D’Escoto can now resume those duties.

In recent years — from 2008-2009 — D’Escoto served as president of the United Nations General Assembly.

Gimme Five between Pope Francis and Televangelist James Robinson

Gimme Five between Pope Francis and Televangelist James Robinson!

(Rome) In July, Pope Francis is in Caserta, near Naples an evangelical church visit ( see separate report ). The visit Pope Francis agreed with his “friend” Pastor Giovanni Traettino of the Evangelical Church of Reconciliation this past June 19, when the Pope out of protocol, a group of evangelical preachers in the Vatican received. Meanwhile, more details are known of this officially concealed from the Vatican meeting.

While the Holy See keeps secret the meeting, the guests of the Evangelical Pope’s message are joyful. Was organized by the encounter of another “friend” of Pope Francis, the Celtic-Anglican “bishop” Tony Palmer. It was attended by nine evangelical “leaders” in part, including Joel Osteen, preacher of Lakewood Church, which belongs to the so-called Protestant megachurches.

The servierende Pope: No conversion of other Christians

Traettino announced that the evangelical preachers were personally received by the Pope at the door of Santa Marta and welcomed with embrace. We’ve put together “laughed and prayed,” said Traettino. It was already known that Pope Francis guests personally served the food. The Canadian preacher Brian Stiller, Global Ambassador of the World Evangelical Alliance (WEA), announced that Pope Francis had explicitly emphasizes that it will not convert Evangelicals to the Catholic faith. According to Stiller was the Pope ensure that people who belong to a Christian community, to find Jesus in their communities. After abandoning the mission to the Jews of the waiver, without any desire to lead other Christians in the church follows. This is the question in space, on which premises the desired unity to take place.

Pope Francis, actually some Latin American distance to the U.S. is said to have announced themselves at the meeting with evangelicals quite as “Gringo”. With the American televangelist James Robinson, the Pope understood so shiny that the two a kind of High Five Gimme Five or completed (see figure). That in Europe among young people, in the U.S., however widespread fives should normally bring the satisfaction of a common success expressed. About how successful the two good-humored religious leaders were so happy? Was published the picture of Christian News .

“Supernatural” encounter between Pope and Evangelicals

Robinson as was also present at the Vatican Kenneth Copeland of Texas are known for their sermons as a mass event. Both belong to the category of big-televangelists, everyone has not only his own “church” but also own to their person-built “religious empire” (CBS).Copeland submitted last January, a video message to Pope Francis. Had evangelical “leaders” sent He thanked thus for a similar, the Pope Francis on the Celtic-Anglican “bishop” Tony Palmer at a convened by Copeland Assembly (see separate report Benedict XVI. “My resignation is valid. speculation is absurd” – Unusual correspondence from the Vatican ). Palmer was also a member of the delegation.

Robinson called on his blog the meeting with the Pope as a “supernatural” and “unprecedented moment between evangelicals and a Catholic Pope.”

Similarities and differences

In contrast to the conspicuous reluctance of Pope Francis, the evangelical preacher-down to him, the non-negotiable values publicly defend. The participants of the delegation from the United States to work also on a political level active mind that with President Obama’s departure also left dominance in the White House comes to an end. With the Catholic Church leader they share a pro-Israel stance. Fewer points of contact have the poverty invitation of Pope Francis and the “prosperity gospel” preached by televangelists. But that seems to have good humor and a friendly deal done any harm. “We laughed together and prayed and searched for the unit,” said Pastor Traettino who gets papal visit on July 26 as the first free Kirchler history.

Bergoglio’s Health: There are reasons for concern ‘ for his health???

Image

Comment by Tornielli: Its agenda is the thick of a shepherd who, heedless of age, you spend way down. Occasionally his body reminds him that he is no longer a 30 year old

The Pope’s health is a matter of principle in the spotlight. As water has passed under the bridge since every ailment, even very serious, was denied or at least minimized due to the fact that the tenant dressed in white stood locked in his palaces: Even though a large part of the daily life of the Popes takes place in the spotlight every appointment deleted becomes cause for alarm and concern fueling the disparate voices. So how is the Pope? He had to go to the Policlinico Gemelli, celebrate outdoors at 16 with a sun in Rome yesterday broke the stones, in the hottest time of the day, but at the last moment, with the Popemobile already running engine, Francis has given package. Not this is the first time it happens and the recurrence of these episodes also helps raise questions and speculations.

Father Federico Lombardi announced today that tomorrow and the commitments of the Pope are all confirmed – including the celebration of the Mass in St. Peter’s for the Feast of Saints Peter and Paul, the patron saints of Rome – and added that “there are reasons for concern ‘ for his health. In fact yesterday afternoon if something serious had happened, instead of staying away in the Vatican to the Gemelli Francis would go on the run, but as a patient. ‘s worth remembering that, because of the celebration of the morning Mass in Santa Marta with fifty of the faithful and the camera of the Vatican Television Center, Papa Better World is monitored on a daily basis was not the case even with his immediate predecessors, who may have had influenza-like illness, moments of fatigue and ailments of which no one has ever heard about. Certainly at the beginning Francis is tired of the summer: the year that he lived was not intense, it was a tour de force of hearings, meetings, messages, celebrations and trips that would have sapped anyone (just ask the staff and forced to follow such visits to the Roman parishes to know how tiring they are). What awaits you, from meetings for the reform of the Curia to travel in Korea in August, during the hot season and wet in that country, is not insignificant. In addition, Bergoglio habit makes no holidays. Its agenda is very thick of a shepherd who, heedless of age – 77 years old – you spend all the way, without being able to say no to those who want to meet him or invited him. Occasionally his body reminds him that he no longer has thirty years.

THE GRAND MASTER OF THE GRAND ORIENT OF ITALY CALLS FOR A VATICAN III

FREEMASONRY: THE GRAND MASTER OF THE GRAND ORIENT OF ITALY CALLS FOR A VATICAN III

“I’d like to know what you think Pope Francis of Freemasonry” . And ‘the desire expressed by the Grand Master Stephen Bisi, publicly, at the conclusion of the presentation of the book “The Second Secret” by Ignazio Ingrao (Piemme publisher) organized by the Library Service of the Grand Orient of Italy on 12 June in Rome at the library Arion Via Milano.

” I am deeply convinced  Bisi-said-  that on the ground of human rights and freedom can be fruitful contacts between the Catholic Church and who is otherwise a believer. I think it’s time to unite rather than divide and I am sure  – he added-  that we can find a valuable point of encounter and dialogue. La Porta Pia in 1870 should be updated. On September 20  -was the wish of the Grand Master-  September 20, 2014, should be remembered for another breach, a breach that can serve to break down the walls that separate different worlds who want to meet. strongly There is need of links. This was also the message of the Second Vatican Council ” , but fifty years ago opened a new all season ‘ inside the Catholic world.  A message that today with the pontificate of Better World takes on a new and very strong innovative drive, which stems from the desire of a remodeling of the Church in his physiognomy, a review of the pastoral care of interpersonal relationships, appreciation of methodology inaugurated in that very special assizes which took place from 1962 to 1965 under the pontificates of John XXIII and Paul VI: open and democratic debate and intense listening to society.  And this “leap of the Church in modern society,” then as now like Freemasonry, which is now just as warm during those years has begun to follow with interest the changes that are outlined Oltretevere.  That event was without a doubt, Ingrao writes in the chapter of his book dedicated to the relationship between the Freemasons and the Church, “a unique season of dialogue and mutual understanding, “” beyond prejudices and historical divisions. ” A momentum that has gone then fading but that at this stage, which appears to have begun a new age reconcile, has every chance to resume.

The central and fundamental question that does not appear in the article of the GOI reported earlier is as follows. All the speakers at the conference hope for the advent of a Vatican Council III . The opportunity to address this topic at the conference is offered from the last chapter of the book that were determined to review and submit on 12 June in Rome: “The Second Secret” Ingrao. Seizing the opportunity how could such defendants at a conference organized by the Grand Orient of Italy did not hope for a renewed season of openness and inter-religious dialogue? And it is the Grand Master of the Grand Orient of Italy, which pronounces the words more alarming and disturbing about the Second Vatican III. a letter sent to the Grand Master Pilloni Bergoglio not only took the numerous statements of praise and support from the riots Raffi Grand Master and the Grand Master Bisi against Bergoglio. Now ask directly a council and a position of Bergoglio of Freemasonry. To not offer biased interpretations and details, I reproduce below the video of the entire speech at the conference, the Grand Master of the Grand Orient of Italy Stefano Bisi:

You can see the entire conference, filmed on site by RadioRadicale, which confirms a brotherly and friendly way connected to the Grand Orient of Italy: http://www.radioradicale.it/scheda/414291

After briefly holds forth the intervention of the Grand Master Bisi I can not resist commenting part of the intervention of the historian Alberto Melloni’s CVII. He, in his speech, defines Joshep Congar “the smartest theologian of the entire Second Vatican Council.”
