Kerry: Extremism Exploits a ‘Beautiful Religion!’

( – The response to Islamist extremism, which “exploits a legitimate and beautiful religion,” must include offering alternatives to young people who lack opportunities and “feel oppressed,” Secretary of State John Kerry said Tuesday.

“The challenge of our generation is going to be to deal with religious radical extremism, which exploits a legitimate and beautiful religion that is being totally distorted, has nothing to do with what they purport to be pursuing, and nevertheless captures the minds of some of our young people – even in America,” Kerry told staff at the U.S. Embassy in Ottawa.

He noted that more than 100 Americans have traveled to the region to fight with the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS/ISIL), while more had done so from European countries, Australia and elsewhere.

“And so we have to push back. We’re not going to win this exclusively through our efforts on the ground in this coalition with kinetic efforts,” he said, referring to the U.S.-led coalition’s military operations against the jihadist group. “We’re going to win this with ideas.”

Kerry then picked up a theme he raises periodically, linking the allure of jihadist terrorism to a lack of opportunities among frustrated young people.

“We’re also going to win it with better alternatives for a whole bunch of young people who today live in places where they feel oppressed, where they don’t have a lot of opportunity, there’s not enough education, they don’t have jobs,” he said. “But they know what the rest of the world has because they all have smart phones, they all have mobile devices, and they’re all seeing what’s going on and they trade thoughts.”

“And frankly, there have been years and years of anger and frustration building up for a whole lot of different reasons in South Central Asia, Middle East, Horn of Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa, and different places,” Kerry continued.

“So our challenge is to not make them think that modernity and rule of law and civil society and states that have long existed is somehow the enemy,” he said. “And what we have to do is take our values and our principles out there as never before.”

Cardinal Coccopalmerio who wants sacrilegious Communion also wants easy-annulments!

Top Vatican cardinal wants streamlined annulments!

Breaking with tradition, the Vatican decided to withhold printed summaries of bishops’ remarks to the synod in a bid to encourage freer debate. Vatican spokesmen have staged daily briefings summarizing the debate, but without saying who said what. Judging from the latest heretical headlines no need to wonder why all the secrecy!

Absolute Heretics have infiltrated the Catholic Church.  Why discuss sins that are an Abomination to God? Why offend God more? God is already too much offended with Newchurch of there is no God but three persons Heretic Bergoglio!! The Catholic Church today is anything but!!

We Were Warned…

“Thus I make it known to you that from the end of the 19th century and shortly after the middle of the 20th century… It will be difficult to receive the Sacrament of Baptism, and also that of Confirmation… The Catholic spirit will rapidly decay; the precious light of the Faith will gradually be extinguished…”

“Various heresies will be propagated in this land, then a free Republic. As these heresies spread and dominate, the precious light of Faith will be extinguished in souls by the almost total corruption of customs [morals]… The small number of souls who, hidden, will preserve the treasure of the Faith and the virtues will suffer an unspeakably cruel and slow martyrdom…”

Our Lady of Good Success implored that the people of this time should “clamor insistently” to the Heavenly Father for an end to ‘these ominous times’ sending to the Church a prelate and father (Bishop of Rome/Pope) who would restore the spirit to the priests.”

Our Lady of Good Success ora pro nobis.

VATICAN CITY (AP) — The Vatican’s top legislator says he favors a radical change in how the Catholic Church handles marriage annulments to speed them up and reduce costs and red tape.

Cardinal Francesco Coccopalmerio is a key member of a commission of experts Pope Francis appointed in August to study ways to streamline the process. Catholics have long complained that it can take years to get an annulment, if they can get one at all. Some dioceses in the developing world don’t even have a tribunal.

Catholic doctrine holds that a church marriage is indissoluble. An annulment is a judgment by a church tribunal that the marriage had some inherent defect from the start and can be declared null. Reasons can vary, including that the couple never intended for their marriage to last or that one of the spouses didn’t want children.

Coccopalmerio, head of the Vatican’s legislative texts office, said Thursday he favors letting individual bishops make nullity decisions in certain cases, changing what has been an exclusively judicial process to an administrative one on occasion. He also said removing an automatic appeal for all annulment cases, or reducing the number of judges from three to one on the tribunal, could help.

He spoke to reporters on the sidelines of a two-week meeting of bishops from around the world debating how church teaching on marriage, divorce, gays and sex can be more relevant to today’s Catholics.

Breaking with tradition, the Vatican decided to withhold printed summaries of bishops’ remarks to the synod in a bid to encourage freer debate. The change, however, has prompted protests by journalists shut out of the proceedings.

The Vatican’s doctrine czar, Cardinal Gerhard Mueller, told one of the two Catholic TV broadcasters allowed inside the synod hall that the speeches should be made public.

“All Christians have the right to be informed about the intervention of their bishops,” he said.

Vatican spokesmen have staged daily briefings summarizing the debate, but without saying who said what.

The decision came in the wake of a directive from the director of the state’s Department of Managed Healthcare, Michelle Rouillard.

Los Angeles Loyolan, the campus newspaper, reported on Saturday that LMU’s insurance will cover faculty and staff for elective abortions effective from August 22 to the end of the policy period.

“The news was confirmed in an email sent to faculty and staff yesterday. Vice President for Human Resources Rebecca Chandler confirmed that LMU’s insurance providers will now cover all procedures deemed medically necessary, including elective abortions,” the newspaper reported.

Life Legal Defense Foundation and Alliance Defending Freedom have already filed a complaint with the US Department of Health and Human Services over California’s decision to force the Catholic university to pay for elective abortions in their health insurance plan.

Gay Group Under Own Banner to March in NYC St. Patrick’s Day Parade!!

brace yourselves who am I to judge

Unbelievable! The statement said the parade was “remaining loyal to church teachings?!!” Cardinal ‘Bravo’ Dolan who is to be next year’s grand marshal, issued a statement Wednesday saying the parade committee “continues to have my confidence and support!?!” Haereticus ‘Bravo’ Dolan said “Neither my predecessors as Archbishop of New York nor I,  have ever determined who would or would not march in this parade … but have always appreciated the cooperation of parade organizers in keeping the parade close to its Catholic heritage?!!, ‘Who am I to judge’ Dolan said! He said he prays that the parade will be “a source of unity for all of us.”

Cardinal Dolan how is this (homosexuals to march under own banner), keeping  the parade close to it’s Catholic Heritage?!! Where is it in Church teachings is it permissible Not to admonish the sinner against the grave sin of sodomy (homo-sexual unions)? Welcome to Newchurch Bergoglio who am I to judge the sodomites!! Keeping the Parade above politics is a lame excuse more like above God. Anathema!

NEW YORK — A gay group will march under its own banner for the first time in the world’s largest St. Patrick’s Day Parade, organizers said Wednesday.

The prohibition on identified gay groups in the centuries-old New York parade had made participation a political issue. Democratic Mayor Bill de Blasio refused to march this year, and Guinness beer dropped its sponsorship.

The parade committee, in a statement made available to The Associated Press, said Wednesday that OUT@NBCUniversal, a lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender resource group at the company that broadcasts the parade, would be marching up Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue on March 17 under an identifying banner.

Craig Robinson, executive vice president and chief diversity officer at NBCUniversal, said the group had applied to march, but there was no immediate word on why the group was chosen.

“We welcome the parade committee’s decision to accept OUT@NBCUniversal’s application to march and enthusiastically embrace the gesture of inclusion,” Robinson said. “Our employees, families and friends look forward to joining in this time-honored celebration of Irish culture and heritage.”

OUT@NBCUniversal is described on its website as “the affinity group for LGBT & Straight Ally employees at NBCUniversal.” Parade directors voted unanimously to include the group, the statement said.

Other gay groups can apply to march in future years, spokesman Bill O’Reilly said.

“It’s about time,” said Sarah Kate Ellis, president and CEO of the gay-rights group GLAAD. “Discrimination has no place on America’s streets, least of all on Fifth Avenue. As an Irish-Catholic American, I look forward to a fully inclusive St. Patrick’s Day Parade that I can share with my wife and children, just as my own parents shared with me.” She said parade organizers “must be held accountable” on their pledge to open the parade to all.

In the past, organizers said gays were free to march but only with other groups and not with banners identifying them as gay. Most marching units in the parade carry identifying banners. There are about 320 units in next year’s parade, the committee said.

The committee said its “change of tone and expanded inclusiveness is a gesture of goodwill to the LGBT community in our continuing effort to keep the parade above politics.”

The statement said the parade was “remaining loyal to church teachings” and Cardinal Timothy Dolan, who is to be next year’s grand marshal, issued a statement Wednesday saying the parade committee “continues to have my confidence and support?!!”

“Neither my predecessors as Archbishop of New York nor I have ever determined who would or would not march in this parade … but have always appreciated the cooperation of parade organizers in keeping the parade close to its Catholic heritage,” Dolan said. He said he prays that the parade will be “a source of unity for all of us.”

Police Commissioner William Bratton marched last year with a contingent of uniformed officers. Gay activists held a news conference before the march to say officers should not participate in uniform.

Uniformed city workers, marching bands with bagpipes, traditional Irish dancers and politicians are traditional participants at the parade, which began in 1762 and can draw hundreds of thousands of participants and spectators.

The committee’s statement welcoming OUT@NBCUniversal said, “Organizers have diligently worked to keep politics — of any kind — out of the parade in order to preserve it as a single and unified cultural event. Paradoxically, that ended up politicizing the parade.”

Nuns on the Bus Urge Diplomacy Against ISIS?!?

ISIS 1

Nuns on the Bus vs. ISIS?

The liberal Catholic activist group Network, headed by Sister Simone Campbell, famous for “Nuns on the Bus,” is asking supporters to urge President Obama to exercise strong “diplomacy” against the “violence” in northern Iraq. Thousands of Iraq’s dwindling Christian population have fled the invasion and occupation of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), as Network indirectly notes, without citing ISIS.

Here’s Network’s recommended note for Obama:

As a member of the NETWORK Catholic social justice community, I am writing to urge you to take a strong leadership role in resolving the violence and persecution that is going on in Northern Iraq in the Nineveh Plain and surrounding region. Christians and Shia are leaving. Food and money are running short. There is violence and destruction everywhere. Some of the sacred sites have been destroyed and the people are terrified.

Pope Francis recently said, “the call for peace must be shouted. Peace sometimes gives the impression of being quiet, but it is never quiet, peace is always proactive.” Only a strong U.S. and multinational response can possibly make any difference to these suffering people. Please utilize the United Nations mechanisms to help to bring peace in this area. Within this context I urge you to convene our multinational regional partners to stop the bloodshed. Our nation needs to be a leader for good and peacemaking, not just war. I urge you to act so that diplomacy can be the way forward.

Notice Network doesn’t describe how “diplomacy” will affect the ISIS reign of terror, which has included demands that Christians convert, pay special taxes as non-Muslim legal inferiors, or die. There are also reports of crucifixions, beheadings, torture and mandatory female genital mutilation, among other horrors, under the new Islamist rule over northern Iraq. These atrocities are intrinsic to the ISIS interpretation of Islamist rule. These details don’t merit specific inclusion in the Network message.

ISIS doesn’t have embassies or diplomatic envoys per se. It’s a terror revolutionary group grabbing territory in Syria and Iraq to recreate Islam’s mythologized caliphate, which would delegitimize all other regimes in the region. ISIS is funded and manned by Islamists throughout the region but not really by any single state. So with whom can “diplomacy” be applied? Network is not clear on this point. It’s obliged to express concern about persecuted Christians but offers no plausible remedy.

Removing ISIS rule from northern Iraq will require the Iraqi military retaking the territory, with U.S. arms and advisors, in collaboration from local Sunnis who likely are exasperated by their ISIS “liberators.” Meanwhile, many Iraqi Christians have found refuge with the well and U.S. armed Kurds.

There’s really no solution to the ISIS invasion in Iraq that is not military. But Network, which is essentially pacifist, like most of the Religious Left, is loathe to admit the necessity of force. Instead it prefers cheap talk about “diplomacy.” No doubt fleeing Christians in Iraq are grateful.

It’s tempting sarcastically to suggest that Network deploy its renowned “Nuns on the Bus” caravan to northern Iraq in a direct quest for peace. But “Nuns on the Bus,” taking a break from its usual Welfare State advocacy, is very busy now touting mass legalization for illegal immigrants. Network has its priorities, and don’t expect “Nuns on the Bus” to mobilize even in this country for persecuted Christians in Iraq or anywhere else.

Diplomacy often has utility but typically only when backed by the possibility of force. Groups like Network prefer to imagine a fantasy world where sweet reason trumps self interest and might. Its radical nuns and activists need to study the ethical resources of their own tradition.

Chicago Catholics march in Pride Parade – “This is all about justice’!!!”

Chicago Catholics march in Pride Parade: ‘This is all about justice’!  Justice??!!! We have been warned about God’s Justice per Genesis 18, 19, Sodom and Gomorrah – Fire and Brimstone Justice!! Welcome to Newchuch Bergoglio where everything is anything But Catholic!!!!! God will Not be mocked!

Parishioners from a Lincoln Park Roman Catholic parish are marching in today’s Pride Parade to show their solidarity with Dignity Chicago, an independent ministry for gay, lesbian and transgender Catholics.

More than a dozen parishioners from St. Clement Catholic Church in the Lincoln Park neighborhood marched behind the Dignity banner Sunday, donning T-shirts that advertised their parish affiliation.

“We don’t want to be dictated to anymore,” said Rob Svendsen, 41, a parishioner at St. Clement for nine years. “With the new pope, we’ve all been given a new ray of hope.”

Many of the parishioners in Sunday’s procession were marching for a second time. Chris Pett, 64, former president of Dignity, said a group of about two dozen parishioners showed up last year and asked if they could join them.

“What St. Clement demonstrates is there are Catholics in the pews out there who think this is a time to be united and give witness to what the church’s true mission is,” Pett said. “We are here to advance justice. We should be a church united in justice, love and respect for one another. What’s exciting about it is they come from a very affirming community.”

Svendsen is not gay but said he could identify with gay Catholics who feel alienated by the church’s opposition to same-sex marriage. He was unable to marry his second wife in the Catholic Church because he had not annulled his first marriage. Pett appreciated that broader approach to marriage equality.

“It calls to mind the bigger picture,” he said. “This is all about justice. Justice in religious traditions means right relationship … To feel really inclusive, to feel welcome, is as important an issue as same-sex couples coming together and being acknowledged legally.”

Susan Burritt, a spokeswoman for the archdiocese, said the parishioners didn’t need the church’s permission to participate. Anything the parish does is “under the governance of the pastor,” she said.

The Rev. Ken Simpson, the senior pastor of St. Clement who’s on pilgrimage to Israel, could not be reached for comment.  But the Rev. Rex Pillai, the parish’s associate pastor, said the group’s participation in the parade wasn’t an official parish activity.

“Individual parishioners are free to do what they want,” he said. “St. Clement has always been a welcoming parish for people of certain various beliefs. It doesn’t necessarily mean we agree … especially with what Pope Francis is saying he’s trying to build a church that’s more inclusive and more engaging.”

Chicago’s Cardinal Francis George fought the gay marriage legislation that went into effect this year.

In 2012, he caused a stir by comparing the Pride Parade to the Ku Klux Klan. Clarifying his remarks later, he said although church teaching does not judge same-sex relationships as morally acceptable, it does encourage the faithful to “respect everyone.”

Nancy Pelosi urges S.F. archbishop to exit marriage march!!

“Venom masquerading as virtue” – In open letter, Nancy Pelosi scolds Abp. Cordileone for attending pro-marriage rally!!

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi took the lead this week in a high-profile lobbying effort to pressure San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone not to attend the controversial March for Marriage event, which she characterized as “venom masquerading as virtue.”

Pelosi, who is one of the country’s most powerful Catholic politicians, made a passionate appeal to the archbishop in a letter obtained by The Chronicle not to participate in the National Organization for Marriage’s June 19 march on the Supreme Court in Washington.

Cordileone, who is one of the featured speakers at the event, was a leader in the campaign for Proposition 8, the 2008 California anti-gay-marriage initiative.

“We share our love of the Catholic faith and our city of San Francisco,” Pelosi wrote to Cordileone, who, as head of the 560,000-member Archdiocese of San Francisco, has become the Catholic bishops’ point man against gay marriage. She urged him to abandon an event in which some of the participants show “disdain and hate towards LGBT persons.”

Notre Dame: ‘shocking’ trustee appointment

“Thanks to the Affordable Care Act, women won’t have to pay out-of-pocket costs for contraception.”

NOTRE DAME, IN — The Cardinal Newman Society has issued a stunning report of the appointment as a Notre Dame trustee of an alumna who has publicly supported the Obamacare contraceptive/abortifacient mandate and harshly condemned “Catholic leaders”  and religious organizations who have raised religious liberty objections. Leaders, that is, like the bishops, and organizations like Notre Dame.  In this message we offer our comments on this report and then direct you to it for a full account.

We delayed publicizing this unsettling event in order to give the university’s spokesman ample time to respond to our inquiry. He has not yet, and accordingly we are going ahead. Alumni should know about this before Alumni Weekend so they can raise the matter with Father Jenkins and other university representatives.

This appointment is inexplicable, insupportable, and incriminating.

Exorcist Writer Gets Response From Holy See on Georgetown Petition

WASHINGTON — Last September, William Peter Blatty, the author of The Exorcist and an alumnus of Georgetown University, sent a canonical petition to the Vatican, requesting that the Church “require that Georgetown implement Ex Corde Ecclesiae, a papal constitution governing Catholic colleges.”

If that effort proved fruitless, his petition called for “the removal or suspension of top-ranked Georgetown’s right to call itself Catholic and Jesuit in any of its representations.”

Many months later, Blatty and the 2,000 other men and women who signed his petition have received a response from the Congregation for Catholic Education, sparking cautious hope that the Holy See will press the Society of Jesus to address festering problems on the Washington campus.

In an April 4 letter, Archbishop Angelo Vincenzo Zani, the secretary of the Congregation for Catholic Education, stated that technical impediments prevented the department from granting the petitioners’ request for “hierarchic recourse.”

But Archbishop Zani offered hope that the Vatican would pursue the matter further.

“Your communications to this dicastery in the matter of Georgetown University … constitute a well-founded complaint,” wrote Archbishop Zani. “Our congregation is taking the issue seriously and is cooperating with the Society of Jesus in this regard.”

“I am deeply gratified that the prayers of my 2,000 fellow petitioners have been answered,” Blatty told the Register.

“There is still more work to be done, and I promise them that we will persevere.”

Vatican Action at Peru University

While the outcome is far from certain, Blatty and Miranda have already gained hope from the Holy See’s stepped up efforts to resolve a separate dispute at a university in Peru, formally known as the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru.

In August 2012, Pope Benedict XVI stripped the university of the titles “Catholic” and “pontifical.”

However, the university has resisted the Vatican’s directives.

Catholic Villanova University picks pro-abortion CINO Jill Biden as 2014 commencement speaker

Jill Biden, center, with her husband and the Obamas on elect

( – Students at one of the nation’s most prominent Catholic universities will hear from abortion supporter Dr. Jill Biden, the wife of Vice President Joe Biden, as its commencement speaker on May 16.

This week, Villanova University announced that Biden will be the commencement speaker at the 2014 undergraduate commencement. In its release, Villanova cited Biden’s work as an educator, supporter of military families and veterans, and breast cancer prevention, as well as her graduation from Villanova’s English department with a Master’s degree.

Biden’s support for abortion was not mentioned, though the release did acknowledge that Biden works “to raise awareness around areas of particular importance to women, including breast cancer prevention.”

 Catholic In Name Only

Both Biden and her husband are Roman Catholic, but support contraceptive use and same-sex “marriage,” in addition to abortion.

In 2008, Biden joined current First Lady Michelle Obama in criticizing then-GOP presidential nominee Sen. John McCain, R-AZ, whose wife, Cindy, had said that abortion was not a major issue for voters.

Biden said that supporting abortion was something “I think [is] very important, personally.” She then told ABC that “I am of that generation of women who fought for Roe v. Wade, and I can’t imagine the Supreme Court overturning it. I think women have to remember that.”

Roe v. Wade is the 1973 Supreme Court decision that made abortion legal in all 50 states. Overturning it would not make abortion illegal in America, but instead turn all such decisions to state legislators.

In 2012, just days before her husband won re-election, Biden told students at Colorado College that “we’ve fought so hard for Roe v. Wade, for access to contraception, and equal rights. We don’t want our daughters and granddaughters to fight those battles we fought, so long ago.”

“We’ve come so far but we have to keep moving forward,” she said.

Earlier this year, Biden met with a number of homosexuals to hear their stories on benefits they are receiving from the Affordable Care Act.

Villanova website says that “the tradition of Catholic higher education has always placed a priority on the integration of the pursuit of intellectual excellence and the ethical conversions essential for the integration of knowledge and faith.” The university also says that “the sacredness of individual conscience must find a secure place in the discourse within a Catholic, Augustinian university.”

In its release announcing Biden’s address, Villanova says that it prepares [students] to become ethical leaders who create positive change everywhere life takes them.

The Archdiocese of Philadelphia told that it “was not consulted on the decision to have Dr. Jill Biden as this year’s commencement speaker as Villanova is an independent institution.”

Spokesperson Ken Gavin also said that “the Church’s support for the dignity of the unborn child and opposition to the dishonesty of ‘pro-choice’ arguments has been made very clear.”

Adam Wilson, the director of communications for The Cardinal Newman Society, said, “By honoring a vocal proponent of abortion rights, Villanova undermines its Catholic identity and harms the Church, which needs Catholic universities to stand for the sacred dignity of human life.”

Wilson compared Villanova to “the faithful Catholic colleges” highlighted in the Newman Guide, which he says are “honoring bishops and lay leaders who inspire students to be courageous Catholics in the public square.”

First Lady Michelle Obama spoke at Villanova in 2009.
