The Catholic LGBT of Palm Springs will be an official entry in the Greater Palm Springs Greater Pride Parade on Sunday, November 9, 2014.

Father John Kavcak of Saint Theresa Parish and formerly of Our Lady of Solitude Parish has stated, “For several months we have been reaching out to the Catholic LGBT community here in Palm Springs. Using as a basis, the spirituality of a Franciscan retreat program, members of this group decided to make their presence known—–. They will be marching in this year’s Pride Parade on November 9th.”

Father Kavcak, as pastor of Our Lady of Solitude in Palm Springs, contracted with Hollywood producer Jerry Weintraub, to film part of the movie, Behind the Candelabra, in the church. Father Kavcak was listed in the movie credits because he played the role of a priest giving a funeral Mass for Liberace who had a sexual affair with a very young 18 year old man named Scott Thorson.

The Greater Palm Springs Pride Parade will be kicked off with a Broadway in Drag Pageant. “A bevy of beautiful female impersonators will delight”., according to the promotions. The events include Mr. Palm Springs Leather Contest, Fetish Victory Dance and a clothing optional Pool Party/BBQ.. The grand marshall is a transgendered man. The main event is a promotion of Equality Marriage.
