APPLE CEO TIM COOK CAME OUT TO THE PUBLIC ON THURSDAY MORNING SAYING THAT, “I’M PROUD TO BE GAY.”
“For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.” Romans 1:26,27
Writing in an article for Bloomberg Businessweek, the 53-year-old Cook explained his previous reticence to talk publicly about his sexuality as a balance between his personal privacy and responsibility to help others.
“If hearing that the CEO of Apple is gay can help someone struggling to come to terms with who he or she is, or bring comfort to anyone who feels alone, or inspire people to insist on their equality, then it’s worth the trade-off with my own privacy.”
Gay Pride: “Throughout my professional life, I’ve tried to maintain a basic level of privacy,” Cook said, adding “I’ve come to realize that my desire for personal privacy has been holding me back from doing something more important.”
Cook’s sexual orientation has been an open secret in Silicon Valley, and while he openly supported gay rights he he never spoke about his sexuality in the past.
His silence led to a number of public outings including a high profile example in late Junewhen CNBC co-anchor Simon Hobbs spoke about closeted gay CEOs.
“I think Tim Cook is fairly open about the fact he’s gay at the head of Apple,” Hobbs said.
Hobbs quickly realized his mistake saying, “Oh dear, was that an error?”
